“I belong to Atlético. I think that in the end, you belong to one club, and one club only. You can love a few, you can be grateful to some, but the one you choose to belong to is only one. I still stand by the values I learned at Atlético when I was a child, which contrary to popular belief, are not about victimizing yourself or about deeming yourself inferior to others, but about fighting and getting through things relying only in what you are and what you have. A lot of times a failure can be turned into a victory. And what is better and more beautiful than defending and standing by what you believe until the very end, and not only to succeed, but to do it in the way you wanted to?

My relationship with the fans, the things I accomplished while I was there, what I gave to the club and what the club gave to me… I am so proud of it all, of what I did, and the fact that they can see that and acknowledge it makes me feel so incredibly grateful. If I had the opportunity to go back and to be able to challenge and to win and to do it passionately, then I would. I would go back and accomplish what I couldn’t in the past.
